Mohammad Ali Badir, is a 61 years old Palestinian farmer, comes from a family of seven members, and owns seven dunums (1.75 acres) of land in Beit Duqqu. Mohammad stated that the olive tree and the land are extremely important to him. Furthermore, he stated that the olive tree and land have come to symbolize Palestinian resistance and resilience in the face of occupation and displacement. Because the Israeli occupation has destroyed many olive trees and confiscated Palestinian land, both have become symbols of resistance to Israeli oppression. The Olive Tree Campaign gave Mohammad 75 olive trees to protect his land and keep hope alive.

Beit Duqqu is a village in the Jerusalem governorate, located about 9 kilometers northwest of the city of Jerusalem. It shares borders with Beit Anan, Al-Tira (Ramallah Governorate), Beit Ijza, Al-Jib, and Al-Qubeiba. According to the 2007 census, the village had a population of 1461 people, with 308 households and 370 housing units. Beit Duqqu covers approximately 5,512 dunums (1362 acres) of land, with 3606 dunums (891 acres) being arable and 206 dunums (51 acres) being residential. The agricultural sector faces several challenges, including a lack of capital, economic feasibility, high fodder and livestock prices, and limited water sources. Following the 1995 accords, 10.6% of the village land was classified as Area B, while 89.4 % was classified as Area C. Unfortunately, Israel has taken land from Beit Duqqu to build the Israeli colony (settlement) of 'Giv'at Ze'ev'.
