Shadi Ahmad Abu-Znait, is a 49 years old Palestinian farmer, who owns three dunums (0.75 acres) of land. Shadi faces problems getting to his field, being located in area c, which offers various challenges. He cannot visit or farm his land unless the Israelis grant him permission, which he claims takes a long time. Planting his land is critical to Shadi because it reduces the likelihood of Israeli confiscation. Olive trees hold a special place in the hearts of all Palestinians. Not only do they provide an economic lifeline, but they also serve as a symbol of steadfastness and political resistance, as thousands of years old olive trees connect our people to their land in one of the greatest and most beautiful living examples of Palestinian identity and cultural heritage he said. The Olive Tree Campaign supplied 75 olive trees to Shadi to keep him in his land and hope alive.

Salfit is a vital Palestinian city in the West Bank, famous for its political and agricultural significance. Its population of around 10,911 people reside in an area of 23,062 square kilometers, and the city's agricultural production is a major contributor to Palestine's economy. The city's land is mostly used for olive farming, with 90% of its arable land planted with olive trees, producing 12% of Palestine's total olive oil production. However, Israeli settlements built partially or wholly on Salfit's land have created numerous challenges, reducing available farming areas, releasing wild boars that damage crops, and causing sewage water to flow into Salfit. Additionally, the high cost of fodder has led to a decline in livestock, impacting the city's agricultural sector and livelihood.
