Arafat Abdallah Jbara, is a 43 years old Palestinian farmer, who has 14 family members and owns 14 dunums (3.5 acres) of land in Turmus'ayya. Arfat is a farmer and relies heavily on farming as its primary source of income. He stated that olive trees have more than just economic value in the lives of Palestinians. They're not like any other trees. For him, the olive tree represents the family and how they are interconnected. Arfat intends to continue caring for the property and plant additional olive trees to prevent it from confiscation by Israeli settlers. The Olive Tree Campaign provided Arfat with 100 olive trees to keep his land protected.
Turmus'ayya is a town situated in the northeast of Ramallah Governorate, with an elevation of 677 meters above sea level. According to the 2007 census conducted by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the town had a population of 3,512 individuals, consisting of 1,711 males and 1,801 females, with 625 families and 935 housing units. The town's total area covers 18,139 dunums (4,482 acres), out of which 11,313 dunums (2796 acres) are arable. Turmus'ayya's agricultural sector faces numerous obstacles, including limited access to farmland, inadequate water sources, and the presence of Israeli colonies (settlements) such as "Shilo". As per the Oslo Accords of 1995, 64.7% of the town's land was categorized as Area B, while the remaining 35.3% was designated as Area C. The Israeli colony (settlement) of "Shilo" has confiscated 752 dunams (186 acres) of the village's land, while another 372 dunams (92 acres) have been taken by "Mizpe Rahel" Israeli colony (settlement).
