Mohammad Ahmad Mahmoud, is a 37 years old Palestinian farmer, with 8 family members and owns 2.5 dunums (2500 m2) of land in Yasuf village, east of Salfit and south of Nablus (16 kilometers from Nablus). "Rahlim ", the Israeli colony (settlement), is 100 meters away from his land. Mohammad mentioned that planting olive trees has more than just economic value in the lives of Palestinians. They are not just any other tree; they represent Palestinians' attachment to their homeland. He went on to say that planting a tree is similar to raising and caring for children. However, he stated that they face numerous challenges in planting olive trees on their land, particularly in Area C, which is completely under Israeli control, and that he must obtain permission from Israeli authorities to access their land and plant the trees. Another growing challenge he mentioned is settler attacks on his land and cutting down the olive trees. In 2018, Israeli settlers attacked his land and cut down 37 olive trees. The Olive Tree Campaign supported Mohammad with 50 olive trees to help him stay in his land and keep hope alive.

Yasuf is a village located in the Salfeet Governorate, northeast of the city of Salfeet. The village has a population of 1,600 people, with 818 males and 782 females, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics' 2007 census. Yasuf is known for its olive tree planting, but faces challenges such as settler attacks on farmers, land confiscation by Israeli occupation forces, and overgrazing pastures by settlers. Additionally, the Israeli occupation has released wild boar herds on agricultural lands, which further harms the agriculture sector. Yasuf is adjacent to the Israeli colony (settlement) of "Kfar Tapuach", and in 2014, Israeli settlers from "Taffouh" colony (settlement) destroyed around 100 olive trees in Yasuf.
