Ali Salih Murrar, is a 58 years old Palestinian farmer, with 6 family members and owns five dunums (1.25 acres) of land in Beit Duqqu. Ali states that "the land was the most valuable asset I inherited from my father and grandparents. It reflects Palestinian history, culture, and the Palestinian conflict. and by taking care of the land, Palestinians assert their right to self-determination and independence". The Olive Tree Campaign provided Ali with 75 olive trees to keep him on his land.
Beit Duqqu is a village in the Jerusalem governorate, located about 9 kilometers northwest of the city of Jerusalem. It shares borders with Beit Anan, Al-Tira (Ramallah Governorate), Beit Ijza, Al-Jib, and Al-Qubeiba. According to the 2007 census, the village had a population of 1461 people, with 308 households and 370 housing units. Beit Duqqu covers approximately 5,512 dunums (1362 acres) of land, with 3606 dunums (891 acres) being arable and 206 dunums (51 acres) being residential. The agricultural sector faces several challenges, including a lack of capital, economic feasibility, high fodder and livestock prices, and limited water sources. Following the 1995 accords, 10.6% of the village land was classified as Area B, while 89.4 % was classified as Area C. Unfortunately, Israel has taken land from Beit Duqqu to build the Israeli colony (settlement) of 'Giv'at Ze'ev'.
